COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT UNESA WITH INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA (IIUM)


In 2021, the Chemistry Study Program, Department of Chemistry, State University of Surabaya, conducted a research collaboration with the International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). The research team from the Chemistry Study Program chaired by Prof. Dr. Suyatno, M.Sc., with members Dr. Amaria, M.Sc., Dr. I Gusti Sanjaya, M.Sc., and Rusly Hidayah, S.Si., M.Pd., conducted collaborative research with Asst. Prof. Dr. Nurrulhidayah Ahmad Fadzlillah from the International Islamic University Malaysia with the research title "Synthesis of Nanoherb from Exctract of Indonesian Fern Chicken Claw (Selaginella plana Hieron) as an Antibacterial Agent". This research is expected to produce antibacterial nanoherbs from the fern exctract of S. plana. In addition, this research will produce publications in indexed international seminars, reputable international journals, and intellectual property rights in the form of patents on methods for synthesizing herbal nanoparticles from the ethanol extract of the Selaginella plana fern. Through this collaborative research, there is also a sharing of research facilities and infrastructure between the two study programs. This activity was supported bu a Letter of Intent (LoI) between the Dean of FMIPA, State University of Surabaya (Prof. Dr. Madlazim, M.Sc.) and the Dean of the International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART) International Islamic University Malaysia (Prof. Dr. Hamzah Mohd Salleh) in 2021.
